This CD is an excellent review of Madonna's first decade as a pop superstar - Most the 80's biggies are here, including the 12" only single "Into The Groove." Pure, hook-laden pop music. A good compilation for casual fans or those Lady GaGa listeners who are re-discovering the diva who wrote the book on shock imaging and self-promotion.
Anyone who survived the 1980's knows every one of these songs by heart, whether you're an admitted Madonna Fan or not. Some people don't like it's "Ultra Treble" sound where the high's are pronounced, but I feel it adds more definition and clarity to the overall sound. It seems like yesterday the public outcry and controversy that greeted Madonna's "Justify My Love" video only added more fuel to the fire -- EXACTLY what the "Material Girl" was looking for.
Of course the ones that stick out are her Marilyn Monroe impersonation in "Material Girl" where she dons a long pink satin gown almost an exact replica of the one Marilyn wore in "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes". Even being banned on MTV couldn't keep the song from shooting straight to # 1. The genius behind Madonna's artistry is for each of these songs, you can still picture the video that accompanied it, playing endlessly on MTV.
By today's standards, the video seems tame, but in 1991 it was unexplored territory and the public hadn't seen anything like it. The choreography is perfection. The more notorious ones are "Vogue" and "Justify My Love". How can you listen to "Vogue" without remembering her "Marie Antoinette" stage performance at the MTV Music Awards with her male backup dancers sticking their heads INSIDE her dress.
Madonna was ALWAYS one or two steps ahead of the game, that's what makes her not only a great artist, but a marketer/promoter second to NONE.The "Immaculate" CD is remastered to perfection, using the Q-Sound that is no longer in use by the recording industry, but at the time was all the rage. This CD will still be indispensable and timeless even in another 20 years.
The CD worked perfectly, and is now a part of my mp3 selections. Thank you.
the cd came before I thought it would and in better condition than I thought. all in all a great purchase and I would buy from this seller again.
I bought this CD when it first came out and lost it over time. It is still as good as I remember. Madonna is timeless.
